Los Banos - steam baths
Prof Anthony Chu, man of many business cards and a generous heart, invited me along on a 2-day trip to Los Banos and Tagaytay. Two visiting professors are here from Taiwan and they are our honorable guests. We pick them up in Anthony's minivan and our whole group heads out to visit the University of the Philippines campus and the La Salle campus, with David and I playing the two school children in the back. Our contribution to the group is some bars of delicious, fast-melting Swiss chocolate. We dined with the Industrial Engineering dept of UP on these floating wooden huts on a lake. It reminded me of Armenia so I made everyone stand for an Armenian toast. Here I am with Anthony at 99, the Korean hotel with several hot baths. 99 is a lucky number in China. You have to arrive at night to enjoy the baths as it's too hot during the day. Or you wake up early to watch the mist rise on the mountain as you steam. I was delighted to soak under a moon sky. Massages for everyone!
